Think fire protection! install a fire sprinkler system at home
Why install a sprinkler system at home.
Commonly people have smoke detectors as fire protection installed in their homes but few home owners have fire sprinkler systems installed or even know anything about automatic sprinkler systems in residential property. It is fair to say that having smoke alarms installed in every room in your house is essential in helping detect a fire in its early stages but if you want the best possible protection then you should also think about installing an automatic fire sprinkler system.
Fire sprinkler systems not only detect fire at its early stages but can suppress or in a lot of cases completely extinguish the fire before it takes hold and completely destroys property.
Companies that manufacture fire sprinklers have been producing this equipment for warehouses, factories and office buildings for a long time now but only recently has this equipment been utilized for the residential and domestic market. The most common type of fire sprinkler systems in residential and domestic properties is a wet pipe system. A wet pipe system consists of a network of pipes that join the sprinkler heads to the water source, the pipes are constantly filled with water and pressurised. The sprinkler heads hold back the water until usually around 70°C is detected then the sprinkler head will release the water and spray the affected area, contrary to common misconception only the sprinkler heads that reach 70°C will actuate. The mains water in the property can be used to supply the sprinkler system as long as there is sufficient pressure and flow, if there is insufficient pressure and flow then a tank and pump can be used.
A fire sprinkler system is like having a fireman on duty in your home 24 hours a day seven days a week, in the UK there is no recorded fatality in a home protected by fire sprinklers. Currently governments and councils all over the world are slowly introducing mandatory installation of sprinkler systems in new build family dwellings, care homes and residential blocks.
